Area D2 Conference

Pardubice, Czech Republic • April 5, 2008

There was a great turnout at the Toastmaster Area Contest on Saturday 5 April, held in Pardubice. Guests included Zuzana Grofova, founding member of the Pardubice Enthusiasts and current District 59 Governor. There were more than fifty toastmasters present representing all four chartered clubs of the Czech republic. As well as that, several members of the soon to be chartered club in Olomouc also attended.

Competition was tough, but both Prague clubs came out on top! A Prague Speakers contestant took out first prize in the Evaluation Section and a Bohemian Toastmasters contestant took out first prize in the International Speech Section.

However, the day was not just about competition. There were also two educational sessions – one presented by Karin Genton-L'Epee from Bohemian Toastmasters, the other presented by Zuzana Grofova. Contestants and guests were therefore able to go home with a few interesting pointers and inspiration for next time.

The day was rounded off by dinner and dancing so all in all i was a great day out!

The contestants who were placed 1st and 2nd in both competitions will go on to compete in the Division D Contest in Erlangen on Saturday 26 April.

Congratulations particularly to Brandon Munro who took out places in both categories! Further congratulations to all the placegetters and to all those who took part in the contest!
