Prague Speakers Club Contest

On Wednesday, September 20, the Prague Speakers Toastmasters Club held their fourth club contest, this time focusing on humorous speeches and table topics. Visitors and Toastmasters members alike were treated to three funny and interesting humorous speeches from Paul Talacko, Stephen Evonuk and Anthony Achmat. Paul presented us with a new twist on how to get rid of the most unpleasant day of the week, Monday. Stephen gave us two stories on cows, milk, education and prices. Finally, Anthony entertained us with anecdotes from his youth, when he was learning how to dance.

We then listened to Paul, Stephen and Anthony as well as Karin Genton-L'Epée present their unprepared speeches in response to the table topics question: “How has Toastmasters affected your life?” The audience heard four very different, high-quality speeches that showed how well the contestants could think on their feet.

In the end, the judges determined the winners, and a pleasantly surprised Paul Talacko won first place in both contests! The next step is the Area Contest in Pardubice on Saturday, October 7. Paul will represent Prague Speakers in both the Humorous Speech Contest and the Table Topics Contest.
